Abstract

This research paper analytically explores Hinduism’s Doctrine of Resurrection and Belief in the Hereafter using the primary sources of Hinduism along with diagnostic interpretations. According to Hinduism, the world begins with creation through Brahma, training and upbringing by Vishnu through repeated incarnations, guidance and education. Furthermore, it ends with death through Shiva and its works repeatedly. It is also important to point out here that in every world or in every age, training and organization takes place through different and numerous incarnations of Vishnu. Therefore, no incarnation can be the last or the first, because before each incarnation there have been incarnations in different YUGS. With next step, new incarnation will be required next incarnations for next YOGS. Therefore, an avatar can be first or last only in the sense that it is the first or last incarnation of a particular YUG. Moreover, this endless series has always been and always will be. In short, the doctrine of reincarnation is an important part of Hinduism. After consulting primary sources, it seems that such beliefs may have been invented by Hindu sages and Acharyas to alleviate their doubts and intellectual anxieties, but it has led to many evils. This article explores critical views to understand the doctrine of resurrection.
