Author Guidelines
Research articles published in this journal are generally of 5,000-7,000 words (including foot-notes) and subject to initial editorial screening, double blind peer review by at least two experts of the field and further editorial review. It also occasionally publishes special issues dedicated exclusively to a particular theme.
Submissions must be in accordance with Al-‘Ulum’s prescribed format that follows the Chicago manual of style for references, footnotes and citations. (To see some common examples, access the given link: http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org)
In particular, please observe the following conventions for footnotes:
• Reference from the Qur’an: Source of Urdu or English translation of the Qur’anic verses must also be cited – Al-Quran, 3: 212
• Reference from Classical Hadith Compilations Muhammad b. Isma‘il al-Bukhari, al-Jami‘ al-Sahih, Kitab al-Zaba’ih wa al-Sayd, Bab Akl Kull Dhi Nab min al-Siba‘ (Riyadh: Dar-us-Salam, 1417 H), Hadith: 5530.

مقالہ نگاران کے لیے رہنما اصول
تحقیقی مجلہ العلوم میں شائع ہونے والا مقالہ بالعموم حواشی و حوالہ جات سمیت پانچ سے سات ہزار الفاظ پر مشتمل ہوتا ہے۔ ابتدائی ادارتی چھان پھٹک کے بعد اشاعت سے پہلے کم ازکم دو ماہرین سے اس مقالے کی اشاعت/عدم اشاعت کے بارے میں رازدارانہ رائے لی جاتی ہے۔ اشاعت کے لیے قبول ہونے والے مقالات کی اگر ضرورت ہو تو مزید ادارتی تدوین بھی کی جاتی ہے۔ ”العلوم“ کسی مخصوص موضوع پر گاہے بگاہے خصوصی اشاعتوں کا بھی اہتمام کرتا ہے۔ بھیجی جانے والی تحریروں میں حوالہ جات اور اقتباسات وغیرہ کے سلسلے میں العلوم کے طرز کو اختیار کیا جائے جو بنیادی طور پر شکاگو مینویل پر مبنی ہے۔ (نمونے کی بعض مثالوں کے لیے درج ذیل لنک دیکھیے)۔

قواعد و ضوابط
مقالہ ایم ایس ورڈ کے اے فور سائز صفحے کی ایک طرف کمپوز شدہ ہو جوبشمول حوالہ جات و حواشی پندرہ سے پچیس صفحات پر مشتمل ہو ۔ –
مقالہ کے شروع میں (250) الفاظ پر مبنی انگریزی زبان میں خلاصہ لازمی تحریر کریں جس کے ساتھ پانچ کلیدی الفاظ( کی ورڈز) شامل ہوں۔ –
مقالہ کے آخر پر حاصل بحث ، نتائج اور سفارشات جامع انداز میں تحریر ہونی چاہییں۔ –
فونٹ سائز: عنوانات کے لئے (18) جبکہ متن کے لئے (16) سائز مقرر ہے۔ –
مقالہ کے حواشی و حوالہ جات کے لئے شکاگو مینوئل اسٹائل کو پیش نظر رکھا جائے۔ –
اردو مقالات کے لئے جمیل نوری نستعلیق، جبکہ عربی عبارات کے لئے ’’ ٹریڈیشنل عریبک ‘‘ اور آیات قرآنیہ کے لئے ’’ المصحف فونٹ ‘‘ استعمال کیا جائے۔ –
اصطلاحات کے لئے ’’ ٹرانسلٹریشن جدول ‘‘ کو پیش نظر رکھا جائے۔ –
مقالہ تخلیقی اور طبع زاد ہونا چاہیے اور کسی بھی قسم کے علمی سرقہ اور چربہ سے پاک ہو۔ –
مقالہ تحقیق کے بنیادی اُصولوں سے مزین ہو۔ –
املاء و انشاء کے رموز و قواعد کا التزام ضروری ہے ۔ –
مقالہ کمپوزنگ اور املاء کی تمام تراَغلاط سے خالی ہو ۔ –
تمام حوالہ جات مقالہ کے آخر پر مندرج ہوں ۔ –
تمام مقالہ جات درج ذیل ای میل ایڈریس پر مقررہ تاریخ کے اندر ارسال کیے جائیں ۔ –
حوالہ جات کے لیے بالخصوص درج ذیل ضوابط کو ملحوظ خاطر رکھیں:۔
قرآن کے حوالے کے لیے مثال: القرآن،۳: ۱۱۳ (ترجمہ کے ماخذ کا بھی ذکر کیا جائے)۔
حدیث کے حوالے کے لیے مثال: محمد بن اسماعیل البخاری، الجامع الصحیح، کتاب الذبائح و الصید، باب أکل کل ذي ناب من السباع (ریاض: دار السلام، 1417ھ)، حدیث : 5530۔
مستقل کتاب کا حوالہ: ابو بکر محمد بن احمدالسرخسی، أصول السرخسي (بیروت: دار المعرفة، ۱۹۹۷ء)، ۱: ۳۵۰۔
دوبارہ حوالے کے لیے صرف مصنف کا مشہور(آخری) نام اور کتاب کا مختصر نام لکھا جائے ، مثلاً: السرخسی، أصول ، ۱: ۳۵۰۔
مدون شدہ کتاب کا حوالہ: خلیق احمد نظامی، مرتب، شاہ ولی اللہ کے سیاسی مکتوبات (لاہور: ادارہ اسلامیات، ۱۹۷۸ء)، ۵۲۔
