The Prophetic Diplomacy: Tools for Peacebuilding and Their Applications in International Relations

Abstract

This research aims to study the tools of Prophetic diplomacy in the era of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the application of its principles in contemporary international relations. the significance of the research lies in drawing effective tools from the Prophetic diplomatic approach to solve the challenges of our contemporary world, and to building international relations characterized by justice, peace, and constructive cooperation. Based on this significance, the research poses the main question: How did the strategic tools of Prophetic diplomacy contribute to achieving peace and stability in the nascent Islamic state? This branches into the following questions: What are the strategic tools of Prophetic diplomacy? What are the mechanisms for employing them in the contemporary reality? Did the psychological, political, and cultural dimensions play a role in Prophetic diplomacy?

To answer these questions, the historical analytical method was used to trace the temporal and spatial context of Prophetic diplomacy, and the case study method . The research concluded that:

• Its tools displayed flexibility through diverse mechanisms: religious freedom, jizya for protection, wise rhetoric, while upholding principles like human unity, covenant respect, and guaranteed rights.
• Following the Prophetic diplomatic approach represents a fundamental pillar in building cohesive societies capable of confronting their challenges. This is achieved by fostering awareness of the noble values of Islam, promoting a culture of dialogue and tolerance among different peoples, rejecting hate speech and racism, and encouraging voluntary initiatives that support vulnerable groups and those affected by wars and conflicts.
