After the Holy Qur'ān, the second most important source of Islamic law is the Hadīth of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). Like the interpretation of the Qur'ān, the tradition of the interpretation of hadīth has been going on since the era of the Messenger of Allah (peace be on him), as sometimes the Messenger of Allah (peace be on him) used to provide the explanation by himself. It is also clear that the hadīths of the Prophet (peace be on him) is not only the source of understanding the Qur'ān, but they are also the second major guide to the rules of the Sharīʻah. Although jurisprudence was derived from hadiths during the era of the Prophet (peace be on him) and the era of the Companions (may Allah bless them and grant them peace), but due to the excellence and sophistication of their knowledge and understanding, there was no need to separate the rulings derived from ahādīth. Rather, everyone could have easily deduced the rulings of jurisprudence from the ahādīth according to their ability. A link in the same chain is the book Mishkāt al-Maṣabīḥ by Khatīb Tabrizī and the book Lamaʻāt al-Tanqīḥ fī Sharḥ Mishkāt al-Maṣābīḥ by Sheikh Abdul Haq Muḥaddith Dehlavī. Due to its importance and usefulness, this book has gained a lot of importance among people and properties. This article attempts to clarify the methodology of Sharḥ Hadīth of Sheikh Abdul Haq Muḥaddith Dehlvī in his book.
